Boris & Carrie Johnson spend honeymoon at luxury Slovenian eco-resort
The UK Prime Minister and his wife have recently returned from honeymooning at a £540-a-night eco-hotel in Slovenia with 'soothing energies'.
Situated in the remote mountains of Slovenia, the Kokra Valley eco-resort is some 30 minutes from Slovenia's capital Ljubljana. Vila Planinka promises a soothing 'balance of energies', allowing guests to enjoy an interruption-free holiday without electric wiring in the walls. Wi-Fi is available only in the lobby, while in the rooms it is only set up if guests ask for it.
That must have been balm for the soul for Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie on their belated honeymoon following his announcement last month that he would resign when a new Conservative party leader is elected.
"We've climbed every available mountain, we've jumped in the lakes, we've been on bicycles," Mr Johnson told local media outside the five-star boutique hotel as he thanked Slovenia for letting the couple holiday in peace and quiet.
Rooms at Vila Planinka costs between £242 and £542 ($292 and $655) per night. Billed as having 'a healing climate' with therapeutic effects, the hotel has a gourmet restaurant with locally-inspired dishes such as steak tartare, lemon-soaked trout, bear cheeks and chocolat crémeux.
Downing Street confirmed Mr Johnson personally paid for the 'mini-moon' at the eco-hotel himself, the Daily Mail reported.
