Munich Oktoberfest: Beer will be more expensive
A beer at the Wiesn is set to cost around 15 per cent more than in 2019, and non-alcoholic drinks will also be more expensive.
The price increases for food, fuel and other goods have been a bitter pill for consumers. But now, a specific price hike has been announced that makes inflation even harder to swallow: Beer at Munich’s Oktoberfest – the first since the onset of the Covid crisis – will be around 15 per cent pricier. According to a press release from the City of Munich, the beverage prices calculated by the catering businesses were recently submitted to the Department of Labour and Economic Affairs. This document revealed that a Maß Festbier will cost between 12.60 and 13.80 euros – on average, 15.8 per cent more than in 2019 when the last Wiesn took place (prices then: 10.80 to 11.80 euros).
Still water for 9.7 euros
Non-alcoholic drinks at Oktoberfest 2022 will also be more expensive: Still water will cost around 9.7 euros (2019: 8.9 euros), Spezi around 10.9 euros (10 euros) and lemonade 10.4 euros (9.6 euros). The City of Munich emphasised that it does not set these prices, although they are checked to see whether they are appropriate – for this purpose, the prices in eateries in the city area are used as a basis for comparison. These are currently between 6.70 and 11.20 euros per litre.
