Falstaff Wine Guide Austria 2023/24

Some things will always remain a mystery, especially making wine, where the endless stories of the winemakers, together with the unpredictability of nature, continue to add new chapters to the history of wine. The history of viticulture in the Gaube family estate dates back several generations. After a prolonged interruption, production was fortunately resumed in 1992, and the family began bottling their wines. Since then, there have been many changes, but the affinity with the vines and the wine has remained constant. It is a challenge for the family to create a common bond between nature and the creation of the perfect wine. The winery is located in the amphitheatre of the Svečinske gorice vineyards in Špičnik, just below the well-known road forming a heart shape among the vineyards. The location, soil, and favourable climatic conditions of almost nine hectares of vineyards allow the Gaubes to produce a wide range of different styles of wine to suit every taste. There is a choice of fresh, calm, and mostly dry wines, as well as sparkling wines made according to the classic method. The range also includes more full-bodied, mature wines from the 'Kaspar' and 'Emanuel' lines, as well as Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir).
