Stone craftsman Alain Ellouz has created a limited edition of alabaster coffrets for the Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1982 double magnum.
Bruno-Eugène Borie, owner and winemaker of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou Grand Cru Classé Saint-Julien, has collaborated with Alain Ellouz, stone craftsman, lighting designer, and scenographer, for the creation of a very special casing for the Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1982 double magnum. The alabaster coffret has been conceived like a sculpture, and provides a protective casing for the vintage it contains.
Each of the 30 pieces created, called ‘beau caillous’ (beautiful stones), is unique and pays homage to the earth’s structure and the complex terroir that encourages the successful growth of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou vines. Ellouz has transformed the moon-white, translucent alabaster, which is extremely brittle and porous, into a stone more resistant than granite.
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou has released an exceptional vintage from its private collection, 1982, in a double magnum for this limited-edition project.
