Baden-Baden Wine & Gourmet Festival details

The whole of Baden-Baden will become a gourmet hotspot for foodies and connoisseurs from May 19th - 21st 2023.

From 19th to 21st May 2023, Falstaff and Baden-Baden Events will be organising the “Baden-Baden Wine & Gourmet Festival by Falstaff” with celebrity chefs and outstanding wineries. New details on this festival have now been released.

The entire city will become a gourmet hotspot for foodies and connoisseurs from May 19th to 21st 2023: Kongresshaus, hotels, restaurants, museums, Kurhaus and the casino will be part of the new festival and make the city a centre of attraction for visitors from Germany and abroad.

Falstaff and Baden-Baden Events will present top regional, national and European wine producers at the Baden-Baden Kongresshaus. Regional wineries will also be represented. From the immediate vicinity, wineries represented include Axel Bauer, Knapp and Kopp, Maier organic winery, Baden-Baden’s wine cooperative, the Schloss Neuweier winery and the Sven Nieger winery, among others.

In addition to the wine tastings, numerous delicatessen producers will be serving culinary delights for free tasting. At the show cooking areas, visitors will be up close and personal when celebrated star chefs reveal some of their tips and tricks that have earned them numerous stars and Falstaff points. Samples of their skills will be served.

Workshops and panel discussions, seminars and masterclasses on the topics of wine and entertaining will be offered in addition and can be booked separately soon.

Only a few metres away from the Kongresshaus, the Baden-Baden Wine & Gourmet Festival continues in the city's best restaurants and hotels. Culinarily, visitors can look forward to special themed menus with selected wine and champagne pairings, as well as rarity dinners, which can be booked in conjunction with a festival ticket.

Brenners Park-Hotel

Baden meets Burgundy – excellent wines will accompany an exquisite 6-course menu with all the delicacies that Baden cuisine has to offer, created by chef Farid Fazel of Fritz & Felix at Brenners Park-Hotel. Olivier Leflaive from the Olivier Leflaive wine estate will accompany you throughout the evening (Saturday May 20th at 7 pm).

The rarities dinner, “Wachau meets Champagne and Burgundy” is another very special offer on Saturday May 20th at 7.30 pm. This Masterclass, which will take place in the Orangerie of the Brenners Park-Hotel, will be hosted by F.X. Pichler of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti & Friends. This exceptional masterclass will be accompanied by an exquisite 4-course menu by chef Farid Fazel.

On Sunday May 21st at 7 pm, there will be a German-Austrian duo, with the food being created and prepared by Fritz & Felix chef Farid Fazel, and the wine from the Austrian winemaker duo: Pöckl and Salomon Undhof. You can look forward to an excellent 6-course menu, accompanied by wines from two Austrian wineries that are second to none. Representatives of the wineries will accompany you throughout the evening.

The Grill

Wines from the Tuscan powerhouse, Marchesi Antinori, are worthy pairings to the Italian 4-course menu created by chef Mario Provenzano in The Grill restaurant at the Baden-Baden Casino. Albiera Antinori - President of Marchesi Antinori, Renzo Cotarella - General Manager of Marchesi Antinori and Othmar Kiem - Editor-in-Chief of Falstaff Italy, will accompany you throughout the evening (Friday May 19th at 7 pm). Please note the admission regulations for visiting the casino or restaurant.

Hectors at the Kurhaus Baden-Baden

Chef Enrico Neumann and his team from Hectors at the Kurhaus Baden-Baden invite you to the kitchen party: “A Journey through Hectors and the Rebland”. Look forward to the excellent wines of the Sven Nieger winery and Maier organic winery (Friday May 19th at 7 pm).

Big wines from big bottles: At the Big Bottle Party, wine flows from magnum bottles. Enjoy great wines from the wineries presenting themselves at the festival. In addition to the wine experience, Hectors at Kurhaus Baden-Baden with chef Enrico Neumann will spoil you with delicious dishes. In a relaxed setting, you will meet some of the festival's top winemakers on the dance floor. Jean-Luc Schaffner aka DJ Jean Wine is a French winemaker during the week and DJ at the weekend (Saturday May 20th at 10 pm).

Heine's Wine & Dine

There is probably no country that produces wines as diverse as France. Heine's Wine & Dine takes you on a culinary journey through France. The selected wines are accompanied by exquisite dishes from the chef, Lucas Geiger. Look forward to a wine and gastronomy trip through France in the heart of Baden-Baden. Olivier Leflaive from the Olivier Leflaive winery will accompany you throughout the evening (Sunday May 21st at 6.30 pm).

Maison Messmer Hotel – A Hommage Luxury Hotel

A special kind of tarte flambée evening awaits you in the cellar of the Maison Messmer Hotel: a Baden-Alsatian evening! Alsatian-born and long-time chef of the hotel, Christian Fritzinger, will treat you to his delicious tarte flambée. The Baden part will be taken over by the Kopp winery, which will accompany you throughout the evening with its excellent wines (Friday May 19th at 7.30 pm).

Le Jardin de France in the Stahlbad

French cuisine meets world heritage in the Le Jardin de France restaurant in the Stahlbad: champagnes from outstanding vineyards with UNESCO World Heritage status, paired with French cuisine, served in a city that was recently also declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Michelin-star chef, Stéphan Bernhard has created a classic 5-course menu. Gerhild Burkhard, sommelier and champagne ambassador, will introduce the world of champagne (Friday May 19th at 7.30 pm).

Malte's hidden kitchen

Food and drink in Australia is as diverse as the continent itself. There are over 60 wine regions to discover in Australia and world-class wines. In Malte's hidden kitchen you can experience what Australia has to offer in terms of cuisine, combined with a top selection of wines. You can look forward to a culinary voyage of discovery through Australia with Malte Kuhn - who was awarded a Michelin star in 2022 - and Master of Wine Thomas Curtius (Sunday May 21st at 7 pm).

Monte Christo - Bar de Tapas

A journey through Spain takes place at Monte Christo - Bar de Tapas. You can look forward to a variety of different cold and warm tapas, created by Alexander Konrad and Alexander Boon. Sparkling Cava, crisp and fresh white wines, fantastic red wines, aperitif & digestif and dessert to round off the “Journey through Spain”. Owner Andreas Oster will accompany you throughout the evening (Sunday May 21st at 7 pm).

Restaurant Nigrum

Restaurant Nigrum presents its Imperial Supper: “Turn of the Century”, a classic 8-course menu, accompanied by the excellent wines of the Cantina Andrian winery, founded in 1893. Alexandra Irlacher, export manager of Cantina Andrian, will guide you through the evening (Friday May 19th at 7 pm).

RIZZI The Restaurant

South Africa's wine culture is 362 years old, as the first wine was produced as early as 1659. But it is only since the early 1990s that the country has developed into one of the most exciting wine regions in the world. Enjoy the South Africa Dinner at RIZZI The Restaurant, a 5-course menu featuring classic ingredients and spices of South African cuisine. The evening will be hosted by Falstaff Wine Editor-in-Chief Peter Moser and a sommelier from the house of Tesdorpf (Sunday May 21st at 6.30 pm).

In the coming weeks, other interesting side events will follow on the theme of wine & indulgence, such as top-notch gala dinners and tastings: Sparkling & Jazz, Beats & Spirits and Art & Champagne. An evening with 3-star chef Massimo Bottura in the painter's hall of the Maison Messmer Hotel is also on the programme.
