Beer-Drinking Pony Becomes 'Mayor' of UK Village

UK

Patrick the Pony, a Guinness-drinking Shetland who lives in a pub, is now the new “mayor” of Cockington, a village in England.

The people of Cockington, a village in England, have just made the miniature Shetland Patrick the “unofficial mayor” of the town. Patrick is a frequent visitor to the bar at the Drum Inn, where he often enjoys his favourite drink, an Irish stout in a special corner. He quickly became popular after his owner brought him to be socialised for his therapy work during the pandemic. Local councillor Andrew Barrand presented Patrick with his mayoral chain, while local MP Kevin Foster also showed up to show support for the appointment.

According to Devon Live, Patrick is also an ambassador for the Purple Poppy organisation which recognises the sacrifice of animals in wartime, and a mascot of the Devon Recovery Learning Community, which supports people with mental health issues and recovery.
