Travel behaviour has changed due to the pandemic and is now often subject to restrictions, but don't let that spoil your wanderlust. To coincide with the start of the year, when many people have itchy feet, the travel experts at Lonely Planet have compiled their ranking of the trendiest destinations. In addition to countries and regions, the hottest cities for the travel this year are also listed.
For the Best in Travel guide, all Lonely Planet employees, authors, editors and the online community, such as bloggers or the Twitter community, were asked for their personal trend destinations. A jury of experts then selected the top 10 from the long-list of hundreds of entries. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, these should not be seen as immediate travel recommendations, but rather as inspiration and a bucket list for the future, according to the Lonely Planet website.
