An intimate Mayfair restaurant
Carlo Scotto, previously head chef at Xier in Marylebone, is to open a two-floor, 36-cover restaurant in London next month. While Amethyst menu will change regularly based on the availability of seasonal British produce, diners can expect the likes of burnt hay croquette; yuba tartelette with caviar and scallops; salmon and foie gras; caramel miso black cod and naganegi dashi; and ras el hanout beef, apple and date.
The ground floor will feature one big table (made with amethyst and quartz) seating 20 and will offer a twelve-course menu which is a mix of British produce with Nordic, Japanese, French and Arabic influences. On the lower ground floor, diners will be able to appreciate Amethyst’s extensive collection of fine wines whilst enjoying a six-course tasting menu option in addition to the 12-courses.
Amethyst will open Tuesday to Saturday, offering tasting menus at £90/$117 and £150/$195. For a bespoke experience, the Chef’s Table can be booked exclusively for private dinners.
