The holiday company is celebrating the grand opening of Club Med Québec-Charlevoix on Friday, 3 December. It describes its first resort in Canada as "a waterfront mountain experience to discover Québec's natural wonders during all seasons".
The all-inclusive 300-acre resort, an hour and a half away from Québec City, features just over 300 rooms, including an "Exclusive Collection" space with premium amenities. It will serve locally inspired food, with views of the St. Lawrence River and surrounding mountains.
Year round activities
In addition to unlimited ski-in/ski-out access on the biggest vertical slope east of the Rockies, other activities available year round at the resort include biking and hiking, as well as popular traditional winter activities like ice skating and dog sledding.
Club Med, now majority owned by China's Fosun Group, operates about 70 properties from the Americas to Asia. It pioneered the all-inclusive concept back in the 1950s and in recent years has been moving upmarket to target wealthier customers looking for a friendly environment.
However, like many hotel operators, it has taken a big hit during the Covid pandemic – Club Med resorts had 57% less business in 2020 than the year before.
