Coffee prolongs life – it´s scientifically proven

A recent study shows that two to three cups of coffee a day can form part of a healthy diet.

Many people need their coffee in the morning, otherwise they feel useless (or are useless). And the drink can not only perk you up but is also good for your health. That is the result of a recent study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, which indicates that two to three cups of coffee daily can prolong life and be part of a healthy lifestyle – so, good news for coffee lovers (and coffee house owners).

For the study, around 450,000 people between the ages of 40 and 69 were interviewed about their habits around 13 years ago; they were interviewed again recently, and it turned out that drinking coffee had a positive effect on life expectancy. Specifically, they were asked about ground, decaffeinated and instant coffee; according to the study’s authors, there was a respectively 27 per cent, 14 per cent and 11 per cent lower likelihood of death for these people. Coffee drinkers, therefore, have a clear advantage over people who do not consume coffee.

According to one of the study authors, who was quoted in the British media, the results suggest that “mild to moderate intake” of ground, instant and decaffeinated coffee should be considered part of a healthy lifestyle.
