Conrad Toasts Queen with 'RoyalTea' at London St. James Hotel
The ‘RoyalTea’ at Conrad London St. James, designed by chef Sally Abé, begins on 30 April ahead of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The menu will be served in the afternoon tea lounge, The Orchard, at the hotel, which is in a 19th century building that was once Queen Anne’s Chamber, in the heart of Westminster.
"In combining this with the rich history of a traditional British high tea and its own royal connections, the spectacular RoyalTea offers a truly authentic British afternoon tea experience with treats fit for royalty – launching at the perfect time to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee," Conrad said in a statement.
Products with Royal Warrant
The menu will offer an array of sweet treats that use ingredients that have Royal Warrants – Lyle’s, Rowntree’s, and Wilkin & Sons, purveyors of Tiptree jams. The cakes include a traditional English Strawberry Victoria sponge, Treacle and pecan tartlet, Glazed Seville Marmalade cake plus Liz’s choccy biccy sandwich, a version of the Queen’s favourite chocolate biscuit. Savouries such as Coronation chicken with baby gem lettuce sandwiches are also available.
Guests can sip one of more than 20 varieties of small-batch tea by Lalani & Co or if they fancy something a little more celebratory, a glass of bubbles from Champagne Bollinger, which has held a Royal Warrant continuously since Queen Victoria first awarded it in 1884.
RoyalTea launches on Saturday 30 April, and will be served from 12.30-5pm, Wednesday-Sunday, priced from £45 pp. Bookings can be made online
