Germany: the VDP’s Grosser Ring Sets Auction Date for November 2021
The VDP’s annual Grosser Ring auction is a key event for Riesling lovers. The new auction date was set for November.
The Grosser Ring, the VDP’s regional association of estates in the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer valleys, have set their auction date for Friday, 12 November 2021.
Members of this elite association – which include estates like Egon Müller Scharzhof, Maximin Grünhaus and JJ Prüm, will sell wines especial auction wines not marketed elsewhere. The auction thus draws buyers and collectors from across the globe.
Date change due to earlier harvests
The auction will take place in Trier, Germany, and wine lovers can attend to bid in person or via an online live-stream. Until now, the auction was held in September. The change in date is due to ever earlier harvests. The changing climate means that September will see many estates still in mid-harvest. In the colder past, harvest often did not take place until October.
