Google Introduces Eco-Certified Badge For Sustainable Hotels

Google is introducing a eco-certified badge for hotels so travellers can see their sustainability credentials.

People can now see information about hotels' sustainability efforts when they search on Google. The search giant has introduced an eco-certified badge for hotels that meet high standards of sustainability from independent organisations, like Green Key or EarthCheck. "We want to make it easier for you to find sustainable options while traveling — no matter what you’re doing or where you’re going," Google said in a statement. Further information on a hotel's specific sustainability practices is available on the "About" tab, where a list is available of what the hotel is doing from waste reduction efforts and sustainably sourced materials to energy efficiency and water conservation measures. Google also allows travellers to see an estimate of carbon emissions when searching for flights.
