Gusbourne Releases Chardonnay Guinevere 2020

The Kent-based estate has won numerous accolades for its English Sparkling Wines, but Gusbourne is increasingly making a name for still wines too.

Harvested in late September and early October 2020, in Gusbourne’s Boot Hill Vineyard in Kent, the 2020 Guinevere Chardonnay was released in time for English Wine Week in June. Grown on the clay and sandy loam soils of an ancient escarpment, it was whole-bunch pressed and fermented and aged in French oak.

The estate was first planted in 2004 to Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay with the aim of making English Sparkling Wine – for which Gusbourne has won many awards. Its Boot Hill Vineyard in Kent, however, is now just as famous for its still Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. Earlier this year, in March, the estate also released a still Pinot Meunier. The Guinevere Chardonnay, produced since 2011, is now a classic in its own right.
