Heineken is making a massive investment in Star Pubs & Bars, its estate of 2,500 pubs throughout the UK. The investment is expected to see more than a quarter of its pubs upgraded and 700 new jobs created across the country.
The cash will bring Heineken’s total investment in upgrading its Star Pubs & Bars’ estate to £115 million/$144 million since Covid-19 hit and to £300 million/$375 million since 2014.
Star Pubs & Bars explained on Twitter, “We're revamping over 600 pubs to reflect two long-term trends that have been accelerated and amplified recently – pubgoers’ increasing demand for quality and for outdoor socialising.”
The investment will be funnelled into upgrading outdoor seating areas and delivering more premium experiences for food and drinks.
With lockdown restrictions relaxed, customers are keen to return to socialising. As pubs are a central part of UK culture, the company has high confidence that there will be a strong recovery of pub and bar channels across the country.
