Holiday flight remains busiest route in the world

The journey from Seoul to Jeju in South Korea tops 2022 list.

The eastern hemisphere again reigns supreme in the list of the world’s busiest flight routes, registering eight of the top ten, with Seoul to Jeju again streets, or air miles, ahead of its nearest rival.

The details are revealed by flight analytics provider OAG, with their figures based on the number of seats sold, the trans-South Korean journey of 453km – Jeju is a holiday island just south of the Korean peninsula – registering a 2022 total of 15,675,404.

The route was more than 5,000,000 seats higher than Tokyo-Sapporo in second place, with Riyadh-Jeddah the first non-Eastern route in sixth spot. No European or American route makes the top ten, with the India route between Mumbai and Delhi coming in at ninth spot.
