Holiday Hotspots for Indians in Times of a Pandemic

After months of stringent travel restrictions for people from India, several countries have opened their doors to Indian visitors with fewer travel restrictions

Egypt
Although the frequency of flights is low and the cost of tickets has skyrocketed, Egypt is open to Indian travellers. People arriving from countries with a variant of concern (such as India's B.1.617.2 variant) will have to take a rapid DNA test on arrival. Travellers also have to present a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before boarding and all arrivals are required to fill in a health declaration.

South Africa
South Africa has not imposed any travel restrictions on Indian travellers. A negative RT-PCR test 72 hours before arrival is required. When travelling to South Africa without a proper verifiable test, visitors are required to quarantine for ten days.

Turkey
The country is conditionally open to Indians. A 14-day quarantine is mandatory, and passengers will be tested on the 14th day after arrival. In addition, passengers above the age of six are required to submit a RT-PCR test carried out within 72 hours prior to departure.

Russia
People arriving in Russia will have to go through health checks and self-isolate until their RT-PCR test is negative. A negative RT-PCR test issued no more than 72 hours prior to departure is also required to board the flight.

Iceland
Fully vaccinated Indians can now enter the country. Vaccinated travellers do not have to quarantine but must remain in quarantine at their place of stay until they receive a negative test result. Iceland also allows travellers who have been previously infected with COVID-19 to enter the country without quarantine and testing.

Serbia
Despite few flights operating, travelling from India to Serbia is possible. Visitors must provide a negative RT-PCR test taken up to 48 hours before departure. The requirement is not applicable to passengers below the age of twelve years.
