Kimpton Opens First Resort Hotel in Europe

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca will open later this summer, a venue offering a host of facilities, including two restaurants and a number of workshops with artisans based on the Mediterranean island.

It will be Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants first resort hotel in Europe, a year-round destination that will be another step in the European expansion of Kimpton. The resort hotel is situated in the town of Santa Ponsa in Calviá, about 14 km from Palma de Mallorca and 20 minutes from its airport.

Guests will enjoy the privilege of being a stone’s throw from some of the island’s best-known leisure clubs like the Mallorca Country Club and Golf Santa Ponsa, a large golf complex with two 18-hole PGA European tour courses. Designed by local architect Guillermo Reynés, Kimpton Aysla Mallorca has 79 rooms distributed around Majorcan-style patios, accommodation featuring large floor-to-ceiling windows with private balconies, rain showers, separate bathtubs, and complimentary access to the spa. Alejandro Bautista Gómez, General Manager at Kimpton Aysla Mallorca, said: “We have thoughtfully combined touches of local tradition with modern art and culture, establishing an environment that exceeds the needs and desires of today’s traveller to build an unforgettable experience.”

Workshops with resident artisans

To encourage guest interaction, there will be an evening social hour where visitors gather and socialise with one another. The hotel will also have bookable workshops with resident artisans on the island, designed to educate guests about local traditions – for example, an organised visit to a regional workshop that produces handcrafted Majorcan shoes. The hotel will have a program of fitness and wellness activities such as road cycling, morning workouts, guided meditation and yoga lessons, along with two outdoor pools to choose from. With regards to gastronomic delights, guests can enjoy an array of fresh fish, meat, or vegetables at the “Zayt Pool Kitchen & Garden Deli”, or locally-sourced Spanish ingredients and timeless dishes at the “Saba Restaurant, Bodega & Bar”.

Kimpton plans to expand

Kimpton is a San Francisco-based hotel and restaurant brand founded in 1981, and now operates more than 60 hotels and 80 restaurants, along with a number of bars and lounges worldwide.
