Luxury Bath hotel opens refurbished suites to guests

Royal Crescent Hotel wants to celebrate its Georgian past.

The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, a five-star establishment in Bath, has refurbished eleven suites, with each has individually designed to create a contemporary, stylish feel, whilst respecting the property’s historic Georgian past.

The Sir Percy Blakeney Suite, the main wedding suite in the hotel, required the most elegant design scheme whilst still feeling relaxed: the ceiling was hand-painted in the lounge, and the chosen furniture includes rich green velvet chairs that are offset by deep buttoned comfy sofas. The focal point of this room is the bed – a luxury 4-poster draped in a lightweight fabric with soft textural cushions and subtle patterns.

The Royal Crescent Suite, meanwhile, underwent a complete redesign: the main colour palette for this room combines hues of rich reds and blues, which come together in the fun fabric on the four-poster bed. For the artwork, contemporary black-and-white art sketches of Bath sit alongside impressionist masterpieces by Jim Thompson.

Clayton & Company were appointed to design the new suites. The colour palettes chosen are based on historical Georgian tones. Much of the lighting used across the refurbishments came from Pooky, with most furniture and artwork sourced from Oka. The fabrics used across the suites have been primarily sourced from Thibaut, Anna French and Jane Churchill, with a few other inspirations incorporated.

The Royal Crescent hotel is located in the heart of Bath´s Royal Crescent and is set in two historic houses. It has also made film appearances, including in The Duchess with Kiera Knightley.
