New three-star Michelin restaurant crowned in Italy

The Michelin Guide Italy 2023 has awarded 38 new stars, crowning one new restaurant with the coveted three stars and four with two-Michelin stars.

Villa Crespi, led by chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo, in Orta San Giulio, has joined the elite of the fine-dining world in the Michelin Guide 2023.

The Piedmont-based restaurant was awarded three Michelin stars 16 years after receiving its second star. It brings the total number of top-rated Michelin restaurants in Italy to 12.

Four new restaurants were awarded two Michelin stars at the ceremony in Franciacorta on 8 November: Acquolina and Enoteca La Torre, both in Rome, St. George by Heinz Beck in Taormina and Locanda Sant'Uffizio Enrico Bartolini in Penango.

Thirty three restaurants obtained their first Michelin star, including Cannavacciuolo Vineyard and Tenerumi, a vegetarian restaurant on the island of Vulcano.
