New wine venture takes off – literally!

Invivo Air offers wine-tasting on flight from New Zealand’s north to south islands.

The chance to enjoy a glass of red or white at 18,000 feet just got a little more interesting – the launch of the world’s first winery airline.

New Zealand Invivo Air will be taking off in January 2023 with tickets for a wine experience with a difference going on sale on December 15. The company aims to offer “the ultimate wine experience at altitude”, with a journey from Auckland to Queenstown – guests enjoying a whistlestop vineyard tour before a lavish dinner ahead of an overnight stay at the 5-star Hilton Queenstown Resort and Spa.

For those who can get to New Zealand the cost is $1,149NZ per person (around €700), the flight departing at 12pm on January 31, enjoying a guided eight-step wine-tasting led by company co-founders Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron. The cost includes return flight, all transfers and all meals, including lunch and breakfast.

On arrival at Queenstown, passengers will be whisked off to the Legend’s Terrace vineyard in Central Otago for a tour and further tasting; a winemakers’ four-course dinner will follow at Botswana Butchery in central Queenstown including Bluff Oysters, all courses matched with Invivo wines.

Rob Cameron of Invivo said: “We’re thrilled to open Invivo Air to the public and deliver a truly unique experience for those that come on board. We’ll be tasting some stunning drops in some truly epic locations.”
