Nightlife meets NFTs in Germany's highest bar

Customers at NFT Skybar in Frankfurt are being offered not just creative drinks and a spectacular view but also non-fungible tokens by a Spanish artist.

The newly opened NFT Skybar by nhow Frankfurt is catapulting itself into the spotlight with two highlights in particular: its location on the 47th floor of ONE Tower, not only gives it the distinction of being Germany's highest bar, but it is also one of the first gastronomic establishments in the country to take a step towards the metaverse.

Bar culture meets the metaverse

The name nhow Frankfurt Top (NFT) hints at the innovative concept. The skybar, which is located at a height of 185 metres and offers an incomparable view of the financial metropolis, offers not just wine, cocktails, spirits and bar food such as Golden Fries with truffle mayonnaise and short rib croquettes, but also Non-Fungible Tokens. The so-called NFTs have been a hot topic in the art and finance world for some time. Celebrities from actor William Shatner to rapper Snoop Dogg have already launched their own NFT collections.

But what exactly is an NFT? Non-fungible tokens are a unique digital identifier that is recorded in a blockchain. Their function is similiar to that of a digital ownership certificate, which can be used to prove the purchase of a digital image, for example.

NFTs by artist David Zuker

This is exactly the kind of concept that the operators of NFT Skybar have decided to implement with Berlin web3 start-up Enefty and Spanish artist and illustrator David Zuker. The result is a total of 30 exclusive NFTs, whose design is based on the bar's ten signature cocktails and which can be bought or "minted" by every bar guest from 28 November, Cyber Monday. According to the operators, no digital wallet is necessary; the NFTs can be purchased with a simple e-mail registration.

Exclusive benefits

In addition to owning a digital work of art, NFT owners can also look forward to benefits such as a free cocktail and direct admission to NFT Skybar. Further offers will be added in the future. Stefanie Schubert, director of marketing & communication northern Europe of NH Hotel Group, is excited about the new concept: "In the NFT Skybar, guests can not only sip their favourite cocktail, but also purchase their own digital artwork and thus an exclusive piece of the nhow metaverse by artist David Zuker."

Germany's highest bar

The bar's feat of being Germany's highest seems to pale a little in comparison with the NFT concept. But with the opening of the Elbtower in Hamburg, it will probably have to relinquish the title in the next few years, as a bar concept at the lofty height of 220 metres is being planned.
