On the trail of James Bond
James Bond Day: Luxury travel company to offer trips inspired by the classic movie series.
October 5 is the official ‘Global James Bond Day’, marking the 60th anniversary of the first Bond film, Dr No, released in 1962.
Travel company Black Tomato has been appointed as the official travel partner to EON Productions and will develop 007-inspired travel experiences; UK-based EON Productions has made the James Bond films since 1962 and, together with US company Danjaq, controls all worldwide merchandising.
European itinerary
Black Tomato will start with a multi-country European itinerary; For Your Eyes Only (1981) is a famous Bond movie and is the inspiration, with only 60 bookable private trips available for purchase later this year. Full details of the itinerary will be announced in March 2023 and one trip, called ‘Behind the Scenes at Chantilly’, will follow in Bond's footsteps as travellers journey out of Paris to Chantilly, the location of the stunning Château de Chantilly which was featured in A View to a Kill (1985). Bond aficionados will have access to the horse track to witness their morning exercise before a private meeting with professional jockeys and trainers – they might even want to saddle up for a horse riding adventure through Chantilly Forest in the afternoon.
Another trip, ‘A Lake Como Adventure’, is inspired by Licence To Kill (1989), and will include waterskiing along the Moltrasio shoreline in northern Italy before boarding a private seaplane for a flight to the towns of Bellagio and Varenna; travellers can also explore the Villa del Balbianello from Casino Royale (2006). ‘Monaco by Night’ includes a trip to the Casino de Monte-Carlo, featured in GoldenEye (1995), with travellers granted access to the private gambling dens of the casino, which are normally closed to the public.
