Pinterest's Top Three Food & Drink Trends in 2022

Pinterest has announced its annual trends' predictions for 2022. Elaborate cakes, ancestral food and tea are three of the biggest food trends.

Accurate forecast of future trends

Pinterest is known for its spot-on trend reports with eight out of ten Pinterest predictions for 2021 coming true. This year, based on the data of 400 million Pinterest users (pinners), the image sharing and social media service has revealed its forecast for 2022 food trends.

New happy hour

In 2022, people will choose a cup of green or herbal tea over drinks after work. “Afternoon tea will be the new happy hour”, the brand stated. Searches for “tea party aesthetic” and “drinking tea pose” are soaring across all age groups and tea lovers can expect more tea aesthetics next year.

Epic cakes

If you are looking for some baking challenges in 2022, epic cakes, which are usually layered and richly decorated, are the next-level dessert ideas. From gravity-defying tiers to 3D cakes, this trend is exceptionally popular among millennials, Gen X and boomers.

Ancestral eats

Traditional recipes will be trending among Gen X and boomers with traditional and authentic keywords on the rise. Pinterest has tracked a significant increase in search queries for “Norwegian recipes traditional” (120% increase) and “South African recipes traditional” (150% increase).
