Radisson debuts its Red brand in Spain

The hotel group is speeding up its expansion plans: New Radisson Red, near the Prado museum in Madrid, is one of 20 new hotels planned for the next five years.

Radisson Hotel Group recently opened the first hotel of its ‘Red’ brand in Spain: located on Calle de Atocha, one of the main avenues in Madrid and the heart of the so-called Golden Triangle of Art, the new hotel features 260 modern rooms, 10 of which are suites. It is situated on a historic site, originally an industrial building used as a sawmill in the 1800s before becoming a hotel 100 years later. On arrival, guests are welcomed by a ‘Red’ statement sculpture of a bear and a tree, which takes centre stage at the hotel’s entrance. The sculpture takes inspiration from the city’s original bear and strawberry tree monument, which is situated in the Puerta del Sol square and represents the symbols of Madrid.

The hotel also features three dining areas from 5-star Michelin chef Eneko Atxa, one of which is situated on the rooftop. Artwork seen throughout the property is inspired by the Renaissance and Baroque eras, with the new hotel in the proximity of heritage sites and art museums such as the Museo Reina Sofia, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, and the Prado Museum, home to the world's largest and most important collection of Goya and Velázquez paintings.

Opening the first ‘Red’ hotel in Spain is part of the Group’s growth plan to open 20 new hotels within the next five years. The latest openings have been the Radisson Collection Hotel in Sevilla, the Radisson Collection Hotel in Bilbao and the Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel in Barcelona.
