Spam Figgy Pudding might be the strangest holiday dish ever

A seasonal variety of Spam will be sold in the US until the end of December.

The canned meat product is especially popular in the US, South Korea and the UK, with Spam producing a variety for the holiday season: Spam Figgy Pudding features a blend of “warm spices and popular seasonal ingredients,” as the brand said in a statement. This limited edition will only be available in the US until the end of December via Spam’s online shop, Amazon, and Walmart’s websites. Spam is a brand by Hormel Foods Corporation from Austin, Minnesota.

Christmas pudding, or Figgy Pudding, is popular in the States, where 69 per cent of consumers have heard about it, as a survey by Spam suggests. But only 17 per cent of US consumers have tried this traditional dish before, with Spam trying to change this with its new variety featuring cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and cloves, along with some popular winter flavourings like fig and orange. Each purchase of Figgy Pudding will include a two-pack of 12oz cans at a suggested retail price of $10.

The Spam brand also produced an animated film and song to introduce consumers to their holiday treat, which, of course, includes the song We Wish You a Figgy Christmas.
