Supermarket giant announces link-up for fast delivery service

UK

Sainsbury’s to use Just East to get groceries to your door in 30 minutes.

The desire for near-instant supermarket deliveries has seen Sainsbury’s join forces with Just Eat Takeaway to give customers quicker response times to their grocery needs.

The UK’s second biggest supermarket group will give shoppers the chance to order items from Sainsbury’s, with delivery in under 30 minutes using the Just Eat app, the partnership involving 175 stores by the end of February.

Asda, the Co-op and wholesaler Booker, part of the Tesco group, already have partnerships with Just Eat, Sainsbury’s now signing up to a service covering major cities such as London, Bristol and Edinburgh – customers able to choose from 3,000 items for delivery.

Director of e-commerce at Sainsbury’s, Siobhan McMullan-Finnegan-Dehn, said: “Just Eat will offer another fast and convenient way for customers to get Sainsbury’s groceries delivered to their door. We are always on the lookout for more ways to make our customers’ lives easier, and we look forward to working with Just Eat.”

Home grocery deliveries peaked during the Covid lockdown, and despite many consumers cutting down on spending during the current cost of living crisis, the recent World Cup saw similar services boosted by orders for alcohol and snack foods for football watchers.
