Switzerland Relaxes Entry Restrictions for Travellers

The Swiss Federal Council has decided to relax its entry requirements for tourists from the Schengen area and third countries. The decision will become effective from 26 June 2021

According to a press release of the Federal Council, arrivals from the Schengen area and third countries including the USA, Albania and Serbia can now enter Switzerland. In addition, people reaching Switzerland from any of the Schengen area countries are completely exempt from quarantine.

Travellers from high-risk countries where virus variants of concern are circulating are also permitted to enter the country without quarantine and testing if they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have recently recovered from the virus. Switzerland’s list of countries with a worrying COVID-19 mutation includes Brazil, Canada, India, Nepal, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

The requirement to be tested will apply only to visitors who have not been vaccinated or have not recovered from Covid-19.
