The new Falstaff Switzerland Restaurant & Tavern Guide 2023

Falstaff Switzerland has released its 2023 restaurant guide. We have an overview of the winners.

With more than 1,150 Swiss restaurants and eateries, the new Falstaff Restaurant and Pubs Guide 2023 covers more businesses than ever before. The best of the best were honoured for their passion and commitment with one of the prestigious special awards at the presentation on 7 November.

The awards were presented at Zafferano, the newest restaurant in the Bindella family, which opened in September. The category winners travelled from all over Switzerland to receive their certificates from the two Falstaff Switzerland editors-in-chief Dominik Vombach and Benjamin Herzog – and to celebrate.

And the winners are...

The award for Host of the Year – sponsored by the Perrin family – went to the star chef Tanja Granits. The popular restaurant Magdalena by Dominik and Adriana Hartmann was awarded Gourmet Address of the Year and Icon 2023 went to Zurich's Kronenhalle. Oliver Friedrich from Alter Torkel in Jenins was honoured for the Best Wine List of the Year. The award for Plant-Based Restaurant of the Year was accepted by Timo Fritsche for Oz restaurant.

Heiko Nieder's The Restaurant in the legendary Dolder Grand is the Hotel Restaurant of the Year. Melanie Kempf and Sebastian Funck were awarded Slow Food Organic Restaurant of the Year for Wirtschaft im Franz and Julia von Meiss accepted the award for New Opening of the Year for Zurich's Silex. This year there was also the new category, Gastro Concept of the Year, which was won by Bindella restaurant Più in Zurich for the first time and accepted by Rudi Bindella Jr.

The Italian menu served at Zafferano after the presentation was accompanied by wines from Perrin as well as Bindella. From the restaurant's open kitchen came the famous Pizza al modo nostro with lobster, burrata and lemon zest, followed by Filettini di Manzo al forna with saffron risotto and fine Selezione di dolci.
