The bar in Mayfair's Connaught Hotel edged out fellow Londoner Tayēr + Elementary (number five last year) for the top slot while Paradiso in Barcelona took third place, up from 19 in 2020.
“Connaught Bar, we salute you – to be named The World’s Best Bar for two consecutive years is a feat that previously only two bars have achieved in the awards’ 13-year history," said Mark Sansom content editor for The World’s 50 Best Bars.
"It’s a testament to Ago Perrone and his team’s continued pursuit of excellence, which is encapsulated in the way they have developed and modernised the Martini cocktail.”
England might have taken out the top two places, but only one other UK bar made the top 50 list. Fourth place went to The Clumsies in Athens, with Buenos Aires' Florería Atlántico, Mexico's Licorería Limantour, Hong Kong's Coa, Russia's El Copitas, Jigger & Pony in Singapore and Katana Kitten in New York rounding out the top 10.
The World’s 50 Best Bars awards is organised by William Reed, which also unveils an annual list, The World's 50 Best Restaurants. It was first published in 2009 and provides a ranking as voted for by 600 drinks experts from around the world.

Spain & Mexico shine
Spain led Europe with four bars on the list, while Mexico City also featured four new entries in the top 50. Singapore has the most Asian representatives and more than any city in the world, with six bars on the list. Australia's largest city Sydney had three bars featured. Dubai’s Zuma was once again crowned The Best Bar in the Middle East and Africa, with an overall ranking of No.17.
