The World's Best Vineyards revealed for 2022

World’s Best Vineyards has revealed the top wine destinations for 2022 at an event in Argentina’s wine capital, Mendoza.

Italy has topped the list for the first time, with Antinori nel Chianti Classico in Tuscany voted number one in the World’s Best Vineyards 2022.

Italy had good reason to celebrate as it also clinched the highest climber accolade after sparkling wine producer Ferrari Trento moved a whopping 50 places up the list to No. 11.

Spain’s Marqués de Riscal, known for its history and breath-taking architecture, took second place for the second straight year, followed by Chilean vineyards, Montes and VIK Winery, which came in at third and fourth places respectively.

Creation in South Africa was voted the best in Africa, whilst Henschke in Australia topped the list with its winery in the Eden Valley. France and Portugal were home to the largest number of vineyards on the Top 100 list, each taking 11 spots.

Wineries across six continents were featured, with first-time entrants from India, Bulgaria and Greece highlighting the recent growth in the industry. England was also better represented than ever before, with Balfour Winery at No 78, Gusbourne at 85 and Nyetimber at 93 trailing Ridgeview at No. 73.

The World's Best Vineyards list is compiled from all the nominations by a global academy of voters. The nominations are for a vineyard experience open to the public that is deemed to be the best in the world.
