TikTok to Open Delivery-Only Restaurants to Serve Viral Foods

The video platform is planning to open 300 restaurant locations in the US by the end of March 2022.

TikTok Kitchens

TikTok is teaming up with Virtual Dining Concepts, the leader in the rapidly growing virtual dining space, to deliver viral foods across the US next year. Called “TikTok Kitchen”, the virtual restaurant chain will offer some of Tiktok’s most popular recipes, including the baked feta pasta that hit social media this year.  Restaurants can apply to become a "market partner", allowing them to host food preparation for TikTok Kitchen orders.

Robert Earl, co-founder of Virtual Dining Concepts, says the brand is about to open 300 TikTok restaurants in the US, with more than 1,000 expected by the end of next year. The menu will change quarterly and Bloomberg reports that its other offerings are expected to include air-fried pasta chips, smash burgers and "corn ribs”.

TikTok recently announced that more than one billion people worldwide use the platform monthly.

The rise of virtual restaurants

The concept of virtual restaurants, or ghost kitchens, has become immensely popular with many celebrities embracing the trend: Rapper Wiz Khalifa’s HotBox by Wiz, MrBeast Burger by YouTube star MrBeast, Mariah's Cookies by Mariah Carey, TYGA BITES by hip-hop artist Tyga.
