The travel website has released its ranking of the best hotels in the world, with a jungle resort in Costa Rica taking the top slot.
The awards are based on the number of traveller reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor during 2021.
Tripadvisor crowned Tulemar Bungalows & Villas in Costa Rica the No. 1 Hotel in the world for 2022. The resort is located in the Tulemar Gardens, the exclusive 33-acre ecological preserve that is home to native monkeys, sloths and macaws.
"This jungle resort is perched on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Consistently ranking in the Best of the Best Awards, Tulemar is frequently called an 'amazing stay in paradise' by its guests," it said in a statement.
Hotel Colline de France in Gramado, Brazil took second place followed by Ikos Aria in Kefalos, Greece, which also took out No. 1 Hotel on the Water.
In fourth place was the Romance Istanbul Hotel in Turkey's largest city, followed by THE OMNIA in Zermatt, Switzerland in fifth.
The Mark Hotel in New York City made its debut in the Traveler's Choice Best of the Best awards, winning best hotel in the US for 2022 as well as No. 1 Luxury Hotel. However Tripadvisor noted the Upper East Side hotel is no stranger to attention, being frequented by celebrities such as Megan Markle and Kim Kardashian.
In other categories, The Toulson Court in Scarborough, UK was rated the No 1. B&B in the world for the second year in a row, and Adiwana Suweta in Bali was the best new hotel.
