Truffle Flavoured Marmite Goes on Sale
Fancy going upmarket with your Marmite on toast? Marmite has released a new truffle flavour in the UK, billed as its poshest spread yet.
Lovers of the savoury spread Marmite can rejoice – a posh new truffle flavour has gone on sale in the UK.
The yeast extract, which comes in black jar with a yellow lid, has become a mainstay of British breakfast tables since it was launched 120 years ago.
According to the brand's owner Unilever, Marmite Truffle "has luxurious umami flavour and decadent aroma.” It went on sale in UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's on May 2 for £4.50.
"Perfectly posh Yeast Extract, blended with decadent Truffle flavour. For the most discerning Marmite lovers," Marmite posted on Twitter.
Marmite, marketed as a product that people either love or hate, has released a range of limited edition spreads in the last 20 years.
Guinness Marmite was launched in 2007, followed by Marmite Champagne, for Valentine’s Day in 2008 and a cricket-themed Marsden’s Marmite in 2009.
For consumers not content with just spreading it on their toast, Marmite has now branched out into products such as crisps, cheese and rice cakes.
