Universal Studios Opens First Theme Park in China

Universal Studios plans to open the $7-billion Chinese theme park in Beijing this September.

China’s first Universal Studios theme park

The opening date is set for September 20. The Beijing Universal theme park, which is made up of seven themed lands with 37 rides, is a combination of China-themed and Western-themed attractions. As the world's fifth Universal Studios theme park, this $7-billion project features popular attractions found at its other counterparts in Singapore, Japan and the U.S including the Harry Potter series and Jurassic Park.

Universal Studios also introduces several Universal firsts such as the Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness. The theme park is expected to attract tourists, especially the young ones, to Beijing and pave the way for a better future for post-pandemic travel.

Universal's third theme park in Asia

The first theme park opened by Universal Studios is Universal Studios Hollywood in 1964. Beijing theme park, which is owned by Beijing International Resort Co., and Universal Parks & Resorts, has been under construction for seven years.

Universal has announced that entry tickets will range in price from $64 to $115. "During trial operations, invited guests will experience selected rides, attractions, shows and dining services throughout the Universal Studios Beijing theme park on designated dates," says a news release from the park.

In Asia, Universal Studios has two other parks in Japan and Singapore, but Beijing Universal is the biggest Universal Studios park in the world.
