Wanted: Best Aspiring Bartender in the World
The World's 50 Best Bars is launching its first-ever scholarship for aspiring bartenders who fancy jetting off to work in two top-notch bars in London and New York.
The World’s 50 Best Bars, the annual list that celebrates the best of the international drinks industry, has announced its inaugural scholarship programme in partnership with Beam Suntory’s The Blend.
The winner of the scholarship will be invited to complete two internships in two of the world’s most-renowned bars: the iconic Connaught Bar in London, named The World’s Best Bar in 2021 and 2020, and Katana Kitten in New York, which was ranked number ten for 2021.
The scholarship is open to any bartender from anywhere in the world aged 21 or over, with fewer than three years’ experience.
Mark Sansom, director of content for The World’s 50 Best Bars, said: “We look forward to receiving applications from all over the world as we give this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to someone that will undoubtedly set their career into overdrive.”
The internships will take place in 2023 and flights between the destinations will be included in the prize. The winner will also receive £500 per week for living expenses in their host cities.
Applications for the scholarship will open on 19 May and close on 20 June. For more information, visit The World’s 50 Best Bars website.
