Wine-focused Restaurant Opens in Hong Kong

Bacchus restaurant could have one of the most comprehensive wine lists in Hong Kong.

Perhaps not surprisingly given it is named after the Roman god of wine, Bacchus boasts a wine list with more than 800 labels from around the world. The Sheung Wan restaurant describes itself as a "destination for Hong Kong's bon vivants to enjoy an extensive selection of wine and French cuisine with an inspired Asian touch." Dishes include Opera of Duck Foie Gras, 63 Degrees Organic Egg and Alain Senderens’ Apicius Duck Magret “Revisited”.

Bacchus says its executive director Hervé Pennequin worked with the late Alain Senderens as head sommelier at his three Michelin-starred Paris restaurant Lucas Carton. Senderens shocked haute cuisine circles in 2005, when he said was fed up with the "senseless race" of restaurant ratings and returned his stars.

Bacchus will feature Champagne pairing menus in November and December.along with a suggested wine pairing for every dish, wine tastings and customised wine dinners.
