Wine tourism conference comes to Tarragona in 2023

The Spanish county will host IWINETC, the wine and culinary tourism industry event on March 23 and 24.

Providing attendees with education, business opportunities, and networking events are the main goals of IWINETC (International Wine Tourism Conference), with the 14th edition of the two-day event (1½-day conference & half-day workshop) taking place in the Spanish province of Tarragona, just south of Barcelona, from March 23 to 24. The conference incorporating plenary talks, panel discussions, case studies, and speeches, followed by business meetings, a networking programme and several post-tour visits to the eight wine regions located within the region, namely Cava, Catalunya, Conca de Barbarà, Montsant, Penedès, Priorat, Tarragona and Terra Alta.

As in previous conferences, there will be an appointment system, matching agents’ business needs with suppliers’ services to ensure they meet people they have a strong chance of doing business with; speakers already confirmed include Judith Lewis, Chris Torres, Peter Syme and Roberta Garibaldi. Additional expert speakers will be announced in due course.

“The programme is a great opportunity for wine and culinary tourism professionals to enhance their time with us with targeted learning, business and networking opportunities that complement the whole event experience,” said Anthony Swift, IWINETC Event Director. The event is expected to welcome around 250 attendees from around 25 countries. Swift told Falstaff that the venue is not yet decided but the conference will be in the province of Tarragona.
