High-class café opens on Claridge’s ground floor
Top hotel offers its own unique take on café culture.
One of Mayfair’s best hotels is opening its own café – but it will be a far cry from greasy fry-ups and tea in broken mugs.
Claridge’s Art Space Café is on the hotel’s ground floor with its own entrance on Brook’s Mews, with the menu befitting of the high-class establishment, including Seafood Cocktail Crepe: lobster, crab meat, lettuce and quail’s egg topped with caviar; and Veggie Reuben: rye sandwich with aubergine which has been brined, marinated for 12 hours in soy, deep fried and then dehydrated before being topped with sauerkraut, cocktail sauce and horseradish.
The venue has been designed by ultra-minimalist John Pawson, complete with patisserie counter, marble communal table as a central spot, and entry to Claridge’s ArtSpace – a vast gallery which rotates exhibitions, free for all to view.
The café will focus on breakfast and lunch and will be open from 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, and 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday.
