New Hotel: Loisium en Champagne Opens in Mutigny

The Loisium hotel group, known for combining the themes of spa and wine to great effect, have announced their latest venture in Champagne. Loisium en Champagne will open on 1 August 2022. Falstaff was allowed a sneak preview.

The hotel, situated on a small plateau in the wooded hills of Mutigny, just four kilometres from the village of Äy, has beautiful views across the vineyards of Champagne. The modern construction, featuring concrete, wood and glass, began in June 2020 and is estimated to have cost €35-40 million.

The four-star property has 95 double rooms and six suites and will open its doors in August. While the wellness area comes with all the usual Loisium amenities, i.e. sauna, hammam, sanarium, relaxation loungers and treatment rooms with direct access to the heated outdoor pool, the hotel also boasts four seminar rooms. These can also be used for receptions and gatherings of up to 140 guests.

The first floor will feature the Champagne bar Les Bulles where well-known brands as well as under-the-radar gems will be served. The ground floor is dedicated to Le Table du Chef, an  à la carte restaurant with 30 covers. Breakfast and lunch are served in the L'Horisium brasserie. With 120 covers and a show kitchen, this space can be used in a variety of ways. Of course, there is also a Champagne bar, also on the ground floor, with a fireplace and a fine selection of Champagnes.

Room rates including breakfast range from €250 to €450 per person. Matthieu Houzai, a native of Reims, is pleased to head this new venture in his home region after numerous stints abroad.
