Waterside – restaurants in Burgenland
When catfish liver is delivered by fishing legend Emmerich Varga, you should go for it. Oliver Wiegand knows his way around such gourmet dishes, but also serves roast beef or farmer's chicken for two.
The "Kohlenfisch" can already be considered a classic at this fine dining spot on the lake. However, the beef tartare is also a work of art under the masterful hands of Kevin Szalai's team.
Steckerlfisch in summer and delicious fish soup are just two of the dishes you should try. What the pond and forest (Unterwarter Wildsau) have to offer is refined. Countryside dining at its best!
The recipe of old master Fritz Tösch remains the same! Local dishes such as lake fish, gray beef or Mangalitza are refined against an unbeatable shoreline backdrop. From the "Fritz am Morgen" to the night cocktail.
In the home of the "Genuss-Safari", a conscious effort is made to use regional ingredients for the dishes of the day (such as Seewinkler noodles). You can watch the refinement process during show cooking and at the grill station.
"Mulatság" is the motto at the Seehotel, where there is always something going on. Culinary delights range from burgers, ham dumplings and scampi to vegan lasagna. Particularly popular: Sunday brunch with a view of the lake.
The head of beef greets you at the entrance - and Argentinian steaks are also the main reason for coming here. They are served in all cuts and with an abundance of the finest side dishes. But: leave room for dessert!
Many things are different at the natural bathing pond, such as the fact that you can bring your own wine. Thomas Diezl recently ran the kitchen himself and has been baking his own bread for a long time anyway. And the quality of the fish and co. remains high!
Cool corner! These are the first thoughts of newcomers at the lake, while connoisseurs are already on the lookout for calamari, truffle fries or the first "Spritz". Just as it should be on a chilled summer terrace.
Even if you don't have a boat, you can sit at the Captain's Table in the catamaran, with a view of the lake always included as a garnish. The kitchen serves up a potpourri: bowls, schnitzel and - of course! - Zander are included.
Sometimes one dish sums up the line - the "Pannonian-Mediterranean fish soup with Puszta bread" would be one such dish. Because local fish, interpreted internationally, is part of the "Karner Bay".
