The best restaurants in Bad Ischl
Located just outside the city centre, you can still find Salzkammergut cuisine here that is perfectly suited to the cultural capital. Beuschel with dumplings is unique, and the Salzburger Nockerln dumplings are a hit.
"Aphrodisiac" restaurant that leaves you wanting more. You can't go past the oysters here, either classic or with roasted bone marrow. Good oriental starters, fine steaks from the restaurant's own dry ager.
Christoph "Krauli" Held rocks Bad Ischl - and the Siriuskogl. It's impressive what this multi-talented guy has achieved here. With a great team, he conjures up casual, creative dishes and classics.
The kitchen team manages the balancing act between elaborately planned gourmet cuisine and pleasant flexibility. Allergies and intolerances are no problem and requests are easily accommodated.
Grammelknödel dumplings are available in many taverns, but here they give this cultural treasure an extra twist and combine them with a fruity, well-seasoned pear and radish salad and walnuts. Fair wine prices.
The Goldener Ochs, one of the oldest inns in the Salzkammergut, shows that craftsmanship never goes out of fashion. Even twisted dumplings, "Beuschel" or pulled-out strudel dough always remain en vogue.
You feel transported back to imperial times and immediately feel like going hunting with Franz Joseph. But taking a seat in the hunting parlour and eating game stew is at least as good.
Of course, people know the Zaunerstollen, and it always turns out delicious in the former K. u. K. Hofzuckerbäckerei. The fluffy spinach dumplings are also unique. Very good coffee and tea selection!
