The ambience is reminiscent of a rustic ski lodge, but the cuisine exudes great class. Dominik Utassy, formerly of Tantris in Munich, demonstrates his international stature. There is a wine selection to match.
The family-run hotel has been sensitively and elegantly redesigned, while the location on Lake Altaussee remains romantic. Roland Wechselberger has a good hand for sophisticatedly prepared Austrian classics.
The unsurpassed lakeside location is also ideal for weddings. The kitchen highlights: char consommé or ceviche of Aussee char to start, then trout and whitefish sizzle in the pan.
The focus of the products is on regional provenance and species-appropriate husbandry. This results in down-to-earth dishes with Salzkammergut flair. The house can be reached on foot or by boat.
The wood panelled parlour with its tiled stove and antlers goes well with regional dishes, with a special focus on game - and of course fish from local waters, which is fried to a delicious crisp.
