Falstaff Wineguide Austria/South Tyrol 2021/22

The traditional winery of the Deim family was first mentioned in 1772 and thus has long historical origins. The winery has always been run as a family business and three generations currently enjoy working alongside each other in the business. The young winemaker and cellar master Markus Deim has been involved in the winery since his childhood. He gained extensive experience overseas, which he now implements into producing the winery’s principle wine and also into the premium line "Goldedition". In the premium line, the best wines were presented, among them there was a bold Grüner Veltliner as well as a Riesling, but also an ice wine, which is a real rarity among wines nowadays. Overall, the winery has a very broad range of wines and also offers, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Rivaner, Malvasier, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, Gemischter Satz as well as a Zweigelt and Pinot Noir.

The vineyards, which are the foundation for excellent wines, are given a lot of love and attention. They are located in the Kamptal Nature Park and in the UNESCO World Heritage site, Wachau. At the estate, which is committed to environmentally friendly viticulture, all grapes are harvested by hand. In accordance with the winery's sustainable principles, the wine is predominantly fermented in large oak barrels and stored there until it is ready for bottling. A cellar tour through the romantic vaulted cellar is an intriguing experience. Afterwards, the wines can be tasted to your heart's content in a cosy Zirbenstüberl (country pub-style inn). The Deim family winery continues to offer one of the best price-performance wine range.
