Falstaff Wineguide Austria/South Tyrol 2021/22

Domaines Kilger vinify wines from three different Austrian wine growing regions; The Blauer Wildbacher grapes that make the characterful rosé and flint wines come from Western Styria. From the Kranachberg in Southern Styria, 25 year old vines produce fascinatingly elegant Sauvignon Blancs, and on the Eisenberg in southern Burgenland, Blaufränkisch and Merlot grapes are grown for grandiose red wines. All the wines unmistakably show their provenance and are characterised by a certain elegance.

Behind the project is the Munich connoisseur Hans Kilger and his experienced team: Uwe Schiefer, the expert for serious red wines, vinifies the red grapes of Domaines Kilger from the Eisenberg. Christian Reiterer from Western Styria, a sensitive tamer of the wild Blauer Wildbacher grape, is responsible for the rosé and flint wines from the steep slopes of Western Styria, and Walter Polz creates elegant-mineral white wines from Southern Styria.
