The Meinhart Hube estate is one of the very oldest wineries in the region and was first documented in 1574. A good twelve hectares of vineyards all enjoy a south or southwest aspect and are planted with vines that are now up to 50 years old. Wines of the highest standards and enormous finesse that express a unique sense of place are produced here. A very specific Styrian terroir is ensured by a unique microclimate and soil. During the ripening phase, evenings cool drastically and diurnal temperature differences can be as much as 25° Celsius which enhances the development of fine fruit aromas. The resulting wines are highly ripe and fruity and their finesse is highlighted by intense mineral character. Soil types vary from calcareous sand to limestone to chalk-free loamy sand to Kreuzberg gravel and marine sediments, which allow a wonderful differentiation of site and of terroir. The wines of Meinhardt Hube are vinified in a well-equipped cellar by their owner, the experienced and highly regarded vintner Gerhard Wohlmuth. Family Wohlmuth places much emphasis on the expression of terroir that is quite unique and different in all their respective sites.
