When he tackles something, he does it properly. In 1992, Anton Bauer from Vienna took over his parents' wine estate with just 3.2 hectares of vineyards; today, the quality fanatic is cultivating about 30 hectares of vineyards in Feuersbrunn. He learned his trade at the Krems viticultural school, during an internship in Burgundy - a wine region he is particularly passionate about - and for four years as an enologist at a renowned Lower Austrian winery. After that, Anton Bauer felt ready for the "adventure of being a winemaker" and has been following his path joyfully ever since.

It is the combination of deeply-rooted ideas and being open to new things, of traditional and experimental, that makes Anton Bauer stand out. From the beginning, the winemaker thought and acted like a visionary. In addition to the Wagramer classics such as Grüner and Roter Veltliner or Riesling, he focused on red wines early on - a courageous step that was viewed skeptically by many. But Anton Bauer followed his conviction, and today his Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and his legendary "Cuvée Legendär" are among the top red wines in the country. With his varietal and regionally-typical white wines, he plays in the same league. Rosenberg, Spiegel, Kirchthal and Stiegl are his best vineyards, from which he produces crystal clear wines with depth year after year.

Anton Bauer attaches great importance to precision, integrated viticulture that is gentle on beneficial insects and the measured use of pesticides. A healthy soil enriched with humus forms the basis for the deep-rooted vines. Summer pruning and grape reduction are further foundations for ripe grapes of the best quality. The physiologically ripe grape material is processed as gently as possible, 100% manual harvesting is a matter of course.
