Falstaff Wineguide Germany 2021

Falstaff Wineguide Germany 2021

If the term „cross-border-commuter” is apt for a winemaker, then it’s Gerd Bernhart. Two thirds of this estate’s vineyards are located in Alsace. On the southern edge of the Pfälzer Wald, Bernhart utilizes the various soil types for different grape varieties: Calcareous marl makes for mineral Weiss- and Grauburgunders as well as profound Spätburgunders. Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are planted on the sandier parcels. We were particularly convinced by the Pinot-varieties. The Spätburgunder Sonnenberg “KT” absolutely outstanding Pinot Noir - made in the Pfalz.
