We appreciate the commitment of Gernot Kollmann, who has developed Immich-Batterieberg into a model winery on the Moselle. One characteristic of the emblematic Rieslings is their serenity combined with mineral depth and corresponding fruit sweetness. This aggregate state was described at the tasting table as "energy in meditation mode". But the cellar master can also do things very differently: the "Detonation" channels the energy into irresistible linear paths, and the exciting "Escheburg" also shows new stylistic nuances. Strong.

The memorable label of this Weingut reminds us of the fact that the monopole site Batterieberg was blasted into the rock with numerous loads of dynamite (a battery of explosives filled with gunpowder)(“ in the middle of the 19th century. So you can imagine that the vines are rooted in quite stony ground. The other sites, however, possess excellent slate terroir – above all the Zeppwingert, famous already in Napoleon’s time. From two of its terraces of more than 100-year-old, ungrafted vines, estate director Gernot Kollmann crafts a Réserve that is allowed to mature for two whole years on its fine lees. Superb!
