Falstaff Wineguide Austria/South Tyrol 2021/22

Falstaff Wineguide Austria/South Tyrol 2021/22

If you are looking - in the most beautiful sense of the term - for an absolutely typical representative of the Weinviertel, you will undoubtedly come across the Dürnberg winery, whose wines embody all the virtues that discerning wine lovers all over the world associate with Austrian wine: crystal-clear fruit, elegant freshness, fine varietal expression and, above all, light-footedness with a mineral character.

Christoph Körner, who founded the winery more than 20 years ago, deliberately refrains from making opulent wines and instead focuses on freshness and elegance. Respectful cultivation of the chalky vineyards and careful attention in the cellar lead to an authentic character. Moreover, he gives the wines all the time in the world to develop, so even the "Klassik" wines are demanding contemporaries without being exhausting. The single vineyard wines like "Kirchberg" or "Rabenstein" come from old vines and are allowed to ripen for an additional year in large wooden barrels in order to develop even more expression.

With the arrival of Dr. Georg Klein, a longtime friend of Christoph Körner, the Dürnberg winery has now become even more dynamic, serving customers and business partners all over the world. The trio Klein/Marchesani/Körner has the future of one of the most promising Austrian wineries firmly in hand and manages it professionally and with friendly composure. One will continue to hear many success stories from Falkenstein and a visit to the newly built winery and the charming Buschenschank "Schmitt'n" in picturesque Falkenstein is a rewarding trip for all connoisseurs and gourmets.
